Natalie (Kyra Sedgwick) je talentovaná fotografka žíjící v New Yorku. Kvůli finančním potížím se rozhodne přijmout kontrakt v Bostonu, městě na které se snaží od nevysvětlené smrti své matky zapomenout, stějně jako na zbytek své rodiny. Po svém příjezdu zjišťuje, že jejím novým zaměstnavatelem není nikdo jiný než její homosexuální bratr Roy (Keifer Sutherland), úspěšný samolibý designér a perfekcionalista. To se ovšem stává její nejmenší starostí, poté co jí Roy sděluje, že umírá na AIDS. Oba zjišťují, že po 10 letech odcizení není hledání cesty k usmíření ani za daných okolností vůbec jednoduché… Toto herecky komorní prožitkové drama, s ve svých rolích excelujícími herci, rozvijí problematiku AIDS a snaží se nastínit změny priorit umírajícího člověka i jeho okolí.
