Dokument natočený podle stejnojmenné knihy novinářů magazínu Fortune (Bethany Mclean, Peter Elkind), který popisuje jeden z největších finančních skandálů v americké historii. Enron byla americká energetická společnost se sídlem ve městě Houston v Texasu. Svého času sedmá největší, zaměstnávající přes 20 000 lidí. Snímek zachycuje vzestup a pád společnosti na pozadí osobních příběhů lidí z vedení společnosti (Ken Lay, Jeffrey Skilling, Andrew Fastow, Lou Pai), kteří svými činy dovedli společnost k vyhlášení bankrotu v lednu 2002. Divákovi je formou výpovědí autorů knihy, bývalých zaměstnanců, akciových analytiků, reportérů a politiků předkládáno svědectví o bezbřehém riskování vedení společnosti na energetickém trhu, o falšování a manipulaci s účetními knihami a amorálnosti jednání. Příběh společnosti, po jejímž bankrotu ztratili zaměstnanci a investoři miliardy dolarů.
