Zdá se, že manželství Dana a Valerie Edwardsových už nemůže nic zachránit. Po 19 letech společného života je Valerie znuděná svým manželem, kterému je práce dražší než vlastní rodina. Dana už zase nebaví poslouchat to věčné "proč jsem si radši nevzala Ernieho Brewera?". Navíc si i jejich vlastní děti myslí, že rozvést se je zatraceně in a přináší to spoustu výhod, třeba takovou motorku značky Honda. Potom ale Danův nejlepší kamarád Ernie dostává úžasný nápad – na oslavu výročí svatby by si Dan a Valerie měli vyrazit do Mexika na druhé líbánky. Ti se tam ale místo sladkého usmiřování nechtíc rozvedou…
