Dokument přibližuje historii jednoho z nejznámějších a nejvzácnějších klenotů na světě – diamantu Hope (Naděje). Jedná se 45,52 karátový diamant, který byl objeven v Indii. Získal ho francouzský cestovatel Jean Baptiste Tavernier, který ho později prodal králi Ludvíku XIV.. Kámen se stal součástí francouzských korunovačních klenotů. V době Francouzské revoluce kámen mizí a znovu se objevuje až v Amsterdamu, kde měl být přebroušen. V roce 1830 ho získal bohatý obchodník Henry Hope, podle něhož dostal své jméno. Kámen však žádnému z majitelů mnoho štěstí nepřinesl. Nakonec diamant získal americký klenotník H. Winston, který ho věnoval do sbírek Národního muzea přírodních dějin ve Washingtonu. Dokument natočil režisér Mark Radice a komentáři propůjčila hlas herečka Kim Basinger.
