Harry Hamlin ako mechanik Steve je známy dobyvateľ žien. Okrem množstva nezáväzných známostí má za sebou už tri manželstvá. Teraz sa oženil dokonca po štvrtýkrát. Steveova matka sa však s bývalými nevestami naďalej priatelí, dokonca sa s jeho "fan klubom" schádza každú sobotu dopoludnia v kaderníctve. Jedného dňa všetkých ohromí správa, že jeho štvrtá žena náhle zomrela. Oficiálne na zápal pľúc, ale ako sa neskôr tretia exmanželka dozvie, testy naznačili aj možnú otravu pesticídmi. Ako jediná cíti, že vrahom by mohol byť sám Steve. Mal totiž nielen prístup k jedom, ale navyše sa hodlá oženiť už po piaty raz.
