Renomovaný malíř Cary Grant proti své vůli randí s teprve sedmnáctiletou středoškolačkou Shirley Temple, zatímco její starší sestra, ctihodná soudkyně Myrna Loy, jim oběma drží palce…Richard Nugent (Cary Grant) neprožívá teď zrovna šťastné období. Nejprve se připlete do barové rvačky, která skončí až verdiktem soudkyně Margaret Turner (Myrna Loy), potom se do něj během jeho přednášky na Sunset High zamiluje Margaretina mladší sestra Susan (Shirley Temple), a aby toho nebylo dost, stejná nedospělá dívka je policií a státním návladním objevena večer v jeho apartmá. Jenomže umělcovým uvězněním by utrpěla duše této nevinné, ale přitom beznadějně zamilované dívky, a tak soudcovský sbor rozhodne: Richard se musí Susan zprotivit!
