Uplynulo mnoho let a Bruce Wayne už dávno neobléká batmanovský kostým. Pouze poskytuje své rady z jeskyně pod svým sídlem. Krk místo něj v akci nasazuje mladík Terry McGinnis, který se rozhodl zasvětit svůj život boji proti zločinu poté, co byl jeho tec zabit kriminálníky. Ale i tento dvoučlenný tým bude mít co dělat, protože na scéně se objevuje Batmanův úhlavní nepřítel – Joker. Přestože by měl být Joker už 40 let po smrti, stále oplývá šíleností a elánem pro své psychopatické kousky. Podaří se dvojici bojovníků se zločinem hrozbu potlačit?
