Keď je prototyp zbrane ukradnutý z vládnych zariadení, softwarovy inžinier sa nevedomky dostane do centra pozornosti, pretože sa mu dostal pod ruku kľúč disku potrebného k aktivácii bomby. Ocitá sa sám a bez pomoci ozbrojených síl Americkej polície a armády, keďže mu nevenujú dostatočnú pozornosť. Sám je nútený spolupracovať iba s jedným agentom FBI, ktorý mu verí. Spolu sa púšťajú do náročnej akcie, ktorej hlavným cieľom je zabiť a nebiť zabitý. A samozrejme ochrániť New York pre teroristami.
