Film vypráví příběh gynekologa doktora Geralda Boyera a jeho ženy Beverly. Ačkoliv je Beverly spokojenou ženou v domácnosti, nedokáže odmítnout velkorysou částku, kterou jí nabídnou za reklamu na mýdlo Happy. Nejprve se jí to moc nedaří, ale publikum si ji oblíbí a ona se stane skutečnou celebritou. O to větši problémy má ale s mužem. Gerald žárlí na úspěch své ženy a chce, aby všechno bylo jako dříve. Vymyslí proto zdařilý plán, jak svou ženu získat zpět.
