Mahmud Nasir je muslim a úspěšný obchodník. Žije v Londýnském East Endu a pokud má tato země opravdu něco jako sůl, je jí on. Tedy až do doby, než Mahmud zjistí, že byl adoptován a že jeho skuteční rodiče mu dali do vínku něco, s čím nepočítal a to… židovství. Mahmud se tak ze dne na den ocitá ve světě, který nezná a do kterého bude zapadat jen velice těžko…
