Vítejte v nejnovějším úžasném vynálezu doktora Who. Jeho zvenku telefonní budka, zevnitř elektronikou a fyzickými principy nadupaná laboratoř vás přenesou do jakéhokoliv místa a času univerza. Třeba přímo na planetu Skaro, zdevastovanou nedávnou nukleární válkou. V tmavých zbytcích pralesa tu živoří rasa Thalů, mírumilovných obyvatel utlačovaných pod nadvládou zmutovaných Daleků, ukrývajících se v kovových robotických schránkách. Doktor Who, jeho dvě vnučky Susan s Barbarou a mladík Ian budou muset spojit veškeré své síly s Thaly v boji proti Dalekům, chtějí-li ještě někdy zblízka vidět svou planetu Zemi.
