Při vědeckém experimentování na zvířatech objeví doktor Henry Jekyll látku, jejíž aplikace v organismu odkrývá obrácenou stranu duše. Látka je naneštěstí návyková a Jekyll ji vyzkouší také na sobě. Tak se rodí ze zakřiknutého domáckého vědce Jekylla světácký lev salónů a také ale vrah – Mr. Hyde.Oblíbený filmařský námět podle novely Roberta Louise Stevensona natočil Terence Fisher (PES BASKERVILSKÝ, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA) v produkci studia Hammer Films.
